About Trapezium

Trapezium Math helps children build deep, durable math understanding through joyful, confidence building instructiuon

commited to creating mathematically capable learners

Mission Statement

Trapezium Math, Inc. was founded as a movement to restore the power of human connection to learning math by reclaiming the classroom from "digital exile" . Our vision is a "heads-up, hands-up" classroom where high-energy, live instruction replaces the isolation of screens. By providing tools for real-time, "out-loud" assessment, we eliminate the guesswork of traditional testing. We give teachers total clarity on student mastery, ensuring every child leaves their class with the foundations required for success in the next grade. We aren't just teaching math; we are building a generation of mathematically capable learners.

Our Roots

CAPABLE LEARNERS SINCE 2008

Trapezium Math was originally created as an after school program that would allow local students to practice their math skills through a variety of fun games and techniques. It quickly expanded beyond its original home in Angela McIver's house, and eventually moved completely online to reach a wider student base.

  • Early Years

Initially, Trapezium math operated as an after school math program for children residing in West Philadelphia. It quickly expanded beyond the schools in the surrounding area to include students from all over PA. The main focus, similar to Mathclub's current goals was to allow for children to view math as a fun and understandable skill that is crucial to future development.

  • Pandemic

As with many businesses, the pandemic meant rethinking how Trapezium math could operate. Dr. McIver and her team could no longer rely on in person face to face activities to keep children engaged, so they shifted their focus to online. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as transitioning to an online platform not only allowed for an influx of new students, but also talented teachers and faculty from all over the country.

  • New Directions

Trapezium Math still ascribes to its original goal of making math fun for students. They are now working hand in hand with school districts to bring the needed math supplies to students nationwide. They also still run a weekly afterschool program, this time online, which allows teachers from across the nation and students to connect on an individual level.
